Militarism in World War One Have you ever wondered the causes of WWI? There are many causes, there are four major causes. They are Militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism. These are all very important during the time of WWI, but the one that I will be talking about is militarism. Militarism was a very important thing that happened during WWI because of all of the different type of people that we have here in america. The definition of militarism is the belief or desire of a government or people that a country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests. As it says back in this time it was very important to have a strong military, because whoever normally had the strongest military they were most likely to win the war, but sometimes armies get outsmarted in war.
