Napoleon is born in 1769; after finishing his studies at the Royal Academy of Military Napoleon began fighting for the French army. He quickly rose through the ranks due to his excellent schooling at the Royal Academy. Despite beginning to fight at an early age the official commencement of the “Napoleonic Era” was 1799. At that time Napoleon would have been thirty and the French Revolution would have been in its tenth and final year. A few years before the “Napoleonic Era” the Royalists were still struggling to regain control of France, a country that had resorted to violence and rebellion in order to break away from the tyrannical reign of King Louis XVI. Much to the French population’s dismay, the royalists made great strides in regaining power. That’s where Napoleon comes in; defeating the royalists and beginning his lengthy and controversial relationship with France and it’s population. He had several positive victories for France. His first great contribution was his victory over the French Royalists, he saved the revolution for the French commoners. King Louis XVI reign of tyranny came to a screeching halt with the French revolution but even after the king’s execution, the fight was far from over. Napoleon saves the day by defeating the French royalists settling the revolution once and for all. Napoleon won many battles for France, one of which was a battle against the Mamaluks after winning this difficult battle, Napoleon takes control of Egypt, once again expanding the French Empire.
