Throughout history there has been many events that changed a tremendous amount on how we live our lives today. Some of these events are the holocaust, the reign of stalin, and the base of modern medicine is Egypt. But which one is the most important. I would say It is the the French revolution. It not because of the number of people that died, it is because of how much this event change society and the world we live in today. First, it set the stage for rebellions all over the world and it set many new presidents that we still use today. Second, in this time period it ended the hard rain of feudalism and paved the path of capitalism. Back then in France only the people of wealth could have a say in the government and vote. A little bit later when the numbers of the hard working middle class started to rise the people demanded that they should be able to vote and eventually they had the right to vote. Also, after the middle class got the right to vote Napoleon fought for the people to be able to go to school. He did this because he thought that if people are educated then the country will run better. When people heard of this they realized that if people from france have these liberties why can’t we have it too. Also Napoleon set up the neolithic code. This is a document which states that even the people that are extremely high in power have to follow the same laws that everyone else has too. This basically means that the king or lord owns all of the land and the peasants need to pay him homage, surfaces and a share of their profit for exchange of military protection. Most of the peasants did not like this because most of them were farmers and they wanted to have their own land so they can grow whatever they want. Also they felt like it was unfair to give the lord so much food because the food they grew was usually the only food they had to survive. Because this made them so mad they decided to protest. When they protested their slogan was “ Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.” This ment that they wanted they all hade the common goal of being equal and having the same liberties as the people in power. Many historians mark this as one of the democracies. One of the things they were fighting for was for them to have the right to vote. Many of the people were angry because they thought that the people in power were only voting for the leaders that would benefit they and not for the people in society.
