How Did Raphael Influence The Renaissance Era

Raphael: The Life of a Painter On April 6, 1483 a soon to be phenomenal artist and architect was born (Biography 1). He went by the name of Raphael and through his life earned the title of being one of the three most famous artists of the Renaissance era. Raphael was an aspiring artist all his life; he gained many different styles from other painters. Some of which inspired some of his most spectacular works such as Raphael’s “Madonnas”. Raphael had an immense impact on the art of the Renaissance era, along with other artists of the era having a great influence as well. Urbino, Italy was the city in which Raphael grew up. He was raised by his father, Giovanni Santi, when his mother died in 1491. Raphael’s mother went by the name of Magia di Battista Ciarla. Raphael’s own birth name being Raffaello Sanzio (“Raphael” 1). During the start of Raphael’s life, his father served as his main role-model. A famous series of his paintings were finished at this time that were based off of the work of Leonardo da Vinci’s. One the most famous of painting’s in the series of “madonnas” was the Madonna of the Goldfinch (Craven 27). While in Rome, Raphael also spent most of his time painting murals, including frescoes at the Vatican (Craven 28). Those four years he spent in Rome happened to be the last four years of his life. Raphael died on April 6, 1508 when he was only thirty-seven. His death was caused by a fever, in return leaving his body lying next to his unfinished painting in his studio (Craven 27).
