Many people have met an old friend, only to not recognize them. Maybe it wasn’t an extreme physical change, but everyone’s personality will change throughout their life. In the book The Wild Robot, Roz is a robot who ends up on an island. She adapts to life on the island, and becomes a wild robot. She is very different at the end of the book than the beginning. This is due to the events that she went through while on the island. Jonas from the movie The Giver is very similar. He goes through a lot of hardship and changes to come out successful on the other side. He, too, is a very different person than he was at the beginning of the movie. Roz and Jonas both changed positively due to their surroundings.

Feelings allow her to observe the world around her. While Roz is a robot, she is still alive and still deserves to feel emotions. Feeling happiness and joy and excitement are all good things. A world without happiness seems pretty unbearable, right? That’s what Roz felt like before. Now, she is able to feel everything that humans can. And so Roz saying she loves Brightbill proves that she experiences emotion, and proves that she has changed positively. Roz never would have developed love and other emotions because of her surroundings. Also, Jonas is making funny faces to comfort Gabe. He is doing this to cheer Gabe up. At the beginning of the movie, Jonas couldn’t feel love because of the required injections each morning that control their emotions. However, …show more content…
To demonstrate, Roz knows she can ask for help and shows this by saying,“‘I am not sure,’ said the robot, ‘but I know who to ask for help’” (Brown 149). To show, Jonas tries to show Fiona the memories that The Giver showed him (The Giver). To clarify, Roz is showing she knows how to ask for and accept help. She is showing that she knows it’s okay to ask for help and that it's okay to accept help. She wouldn’t say that if she didn’t want to accept help. Roz is a robot, specifically one designed to help others and do their work for them. She is supposed to be self-sufficient and be able to do her work all by herself. She’s designed to not ask for help, and do it herself instead. The point of robots is to make work easier for humans, and they can’t do that if they are constantly needing help. Because she is a robot, this idea is literally programmed into her, and she wouldn’t know any different. But because she is asking for help, this shows that she has learned that it's okay to ask for help. This is a positive change. It’s not a bad thing to ask for help, and it's not a bad thing to accept help. It just means that a group of people are working together with someone to accomplish something. Asking for help doesn’t make someone weak, a failure, or less hardworking. It means the opposite. This is a healthy mindset to have. Roz has a
