Literature made many advancements during the Renaissance. It broke through barriers, and new boundaries were created. Poetry and drama reached their peak during the Renaissance. The invention of the printing press helped store poems and stories forever. William Shakespeare also changed literature greatly. Many of the amazing plays that we cherish today were written by William Shakespeare. Some include, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, and many many more. (source 4) Macbeth is a “triple threat” because it mixes allusion, prophecy, and fate to portray our world as a somewhat-avoidable knot of predestine action. (source 4) This shows that William Shakespeare wrote many plays still studied today and without the Renaissance period these great literary pieces would not be able to educate us today. He came up with a variety of words commonly used among us now. For example, he made up 1700 common English words that are frequently use until today.
