A modern day Titan who excelled in the technology industry; Steve Jobs said “ Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma- which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other people’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. Rockefeller, JP Morgan, and Andrew Carnegie all showed the trait of Future Thinking. John D. Rockefeller showed future thinking by investing everything he had into kerosene believing it was the new standard in homes across America because he noticed the need for constant, safe source of light to replace candle light. His investments paid off wonderfully leaving him as the leader of the oil industry and giving him the fortune and the empire that he had dreamt of as a kid. JP Morgan showed future thinking by investing heavily into Thomas Edison’s electric company, despite his father’s great disapproval. He had a brilliant idea to bring publicity to the newly perfected electric light bulb which was Thomas Edison’s greatest invention out of the thousands he created. The idea was to light his house completely by electric light bulbs however it took months to perfect and it had a small power plant in the back shed. He invited the wealthiest family’s to his house and displayed the wonder of the electric light bulb. Soon it was in many of the wealthier class homes but a problem still stood; Lower to middle class homes. Most people couldn’t afford to put lights in their homes nonetheless a small power plant. Morgan decided to start building power plants so the cost of installing electric lights would be cheaper and available to everyone. The first power plant was built in lower Manhattan. Andrew Carnegie showed future thinking by getting into the steel industry and opening his first steel mill. This steel mill was by far the biggest, covering over 100 acres and capable of producing over 100 tons of steel a day. This was a revolutionary build however it produced more steel than the railroads could keep moving. THis steel mill created more demand for steel products like building supports, better railroads and pushed american workers to step up and modernize their buildings and
