The reason why the constitutional convention was called was because the existing constitution the Articles Of Confederation was not working so well.this was a problem because there was no court systems,no Chief Executive(An organizer),and the government could not force a state to pay their taxes. It is important to have these things in a government because imagine if there was no CEO to organize what taxes were being collected and which were not or if there were no courts then there would be chaos because no one will go to jail and if the government can’t make states pay taxes what can they do? These are all reasons why the articles of confederation were not good for the U.S.
The Articles of the Confederation was written in the beginning, because the citizens of America feared the government. The people wanted a new system that was organized and protected its people from Wars, attacks, and most importantly a stronger and reliable economy. In my opinion, there were more weaknesses than strengthens: 1. Congress lacked the power to collect taxes. 2.
Federalists and Anti-Federalists had opposing views in the Constitution because of their differences; but they also had many similarities that ended up leading to the ratification of the Constitution. Anti-Federalists and Federalist had many similarities. Both were supportive of this new country and knew that they needed a government. They both wanted the congress to have power to create war and to create treaties.
The articles of confederation were weak in the central government and the states having significant power. The article of confederation can only request states pay taxes. No bill of rights either. Money inflates, and they cannot pay back loans for bad credit. They also had difficulty for the new nation to repay their debts from the revolutionary war.
After the American Revolution the Articles of Confederation was established as the document for our society, it created a loose national government and had to be reevaluated. The Constitution was an imperfect document, but it created a just government because it is a living document with an amendment process to improve the government. Over time our society has evolved ad developed greatly, through this the Constitution has remained relevant and true. The Articles of Confederation no doubt was faulty and needed attention.
The Articles of Confederation made up America’s first constitution. This constitution was hastily and poorly made and solved the problem of a lack of government in America. The Articles were designed to limit the government’s power over the citizens. The Articles of Confederation also did not include anything about an individual or a president to guide the country. This was because of the colonists’ past experience with Britain’s king and him having too much power over the people.
The Federalist main argument was stated based off the opinion that the government would never have complete power over the citizens, but the citizens would also have a little more power and a say in the things that involve them. On the other hand, the Anti-Federalists believed in limited powers specifically stated, they wanted strong state governments, and wanted a Bill of Rights added to the Constitution to protect the people from the government (Document 4). This was their point of view due to the fact that they believed that the individual states know and can act more based on their people that on federal government can. They focused their argument on the rights of the citizens. For the Federalists and Anti-Federalists to agree on a new government, they created a compromise that combined each of their ideas.
The Article of Confederation was made to create a sense of structure in the government of America and advance the economy, resulting in a place where one can be proud to be a part of. The Article of Confederation exhibited lots of weaknesses, including different national governance, financial instability due to inefficient tax collection, and a lack of central authority. thus addressed and corrected by the US Constitution, creating a strong federal government and providing a strong framework for the economy to come. In the article on confederation, a main problem was financial instability due to inefficient tax collection. Following the Revolutionary War, the United States acclimated lots of war debt.
The Articles of the Confederation was the first government constitution that the United States used, and, although there were strength like the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, there were major weaknesses of the Articles of the Confederation like the following: requiring 9 out of the 13 colonial votes from the representatives from different states to pass a law; having no executive and judicial branch; and the federal government being unable to impose tax revenue onto the states. Such flaws would eventually lead to the Constitution and the repeal of the articles, for the Constitution was a measure to fix the problems of the articles with a stronger government that allowed them to impose taxes and and implement new laws for a more effective government.
After the Articles of Confederation failed because they failed to give enough power to the national government and congress, our founding father’s needed to reflect on its flaws for a new system to be set in place. Their new creation, our Constitution, was then set into place, and was created from a basis of the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation directly influence the Constitution by its failure by changing some of the responsibilities of the federal and state governments. The Articles of Confederation gave too much power to the states, and the Constitution changed that.
The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of the United States. This document helped and hindered our government in many ways. It was successful in that Congress established a national treasury, and states had begun contributing. It was also successful because Congress created an administrative system to coordinate the daily operations of government. However, there were quite a few things that lead to the Articles of Confederation’s failure.
All of the issues in the Articles of Confederation were resolved in the Constitution. For example, under the Articles of Confederation, Congress had zero power to tax, regulate trade between the states or enforce laws. This problem was fixed in the Constitution because it had the U. S ruled by a strong central government that could tax, regulate trade and enforce laws. The Articles of Confederation also had many weaknesses like having no national army or currency. This was fixed by the Constitution because now, there is a national army and a national currency (dollars).
Congress scared of creating a tyrannical government, especially after they had just fought so hard against one, created the Articles of Confederation. While not meant to be permanent more just to satisfy the citizens it still did not last as long as intended. The Articles of Confederation were a major stepping stone on the road to creating a country that will last for centuries. The Articles of Confederation were chosen as Congress felt Parliament had too much power and as a result they severely limited the powers of the national gov’t.
The Articles of Confederation were created for the basic rights of citizens. The Constitution was needed so it could establish fundamental laws. There were a lot of people that participated to create the U.S Constitution. During the Second Continental Congress in 1776, there was a draft by a committee headed by John Dickinson, a statesman. The revised draft, adopted by the Continental Congress on Nov. 15, 1777, called for a government that theoretically possessed many powers but was actually subordinate to the states.
After declaring independence from Great Britain, the United States needed an established document to help unify the colonies. The Articles of Confederation was the first documented “Constitution” the Unites States ever had. The Articles of confederation was created to push for the individual states to come together and act as a one. Almost being like a rough draft, this document was a loose outline for the federal government that was meant to help defend the country from foreign attacks and promote economic growth. The weak document led to the eventual ratification that allowed the nation to adopt the new and improved Constitution.
