Atomic Bombs are one of the most controversial weapons created. The first and ever time the atomic bomb was used in warfare was in World War II. The United States dropped two bombs on Japanese cities and killed hundreds of thousands of people. The atomic bomb has affected the world and the citizen lives. Many have been killed because of it but the world has also been helped by it. The inventor of the atomic bomb was J. Robert Oppenheimer also known as the “father of the atomic bomb”. He was an American theoretical physicist. At the age of ten he was already studying minerals, physics, and chemistry all at once that’s how they knew he was academically gifted. Oppenheimer gathered around two hundred scientists for the manhattan project to live and work on the bomb in a secret third city. Those scientists made two different bomb designs. The first bomb was a gun-type bomb called the “little boy” The second bomb was an implosion-type bomb called the “fat man”. But they both were equally destructive. The atomic bomb was a single event that stopped World War II and it changed everything. It showed people that war could be a catastrophe on a scale that was unimaginable. The atomic bomb was a technological breakthrough that represented a leap forward in destructive power. Even today, the world is still comprehending the legacy of the bomb, and the United States is still trying to find ways to prevent another insane event like this from happening
