The atomic bomb is “a bomb whose potency is derived from nuclear fission of atoms of fissionable material with the consequent conversion of part of their mass into energy” (dictionary.com). During the end of World War II, the American made 2 atomic bombs to dropped on Japan. On August 6, 1945, an American B-29 bomber dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. Then a few day later America dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan on August 9, 1945. A group of scientist believe that they have discovered a new weapon of mass destruction more powerful than the atomic bomb. This bomb would help the war end quickly, prevented other countries from taking over, and it is an opportunity to save many American lives. Congress should allow the group of scientists to develop and test this new weapon. The bomb will end the war quickly. “We estimated that if we should be forced to carry this plan to its conclusion, the major fighting would not end until the latter part of 1946, at the earliest” (Document A).
