The cold war started in 1947 and ended in 1991. The cold war was a big war between the USSR and the US. The name cold war was founded because there was no direct fighting in this war. Both sides had economic and political differences, when we say this its word for communism. During this war the western countries had expanded their military and the aid finances.
The Cold War started for a variety of reasons some being communication, “weapons,” and ideas. It’s hard to say when the Cold War began, many events lead up to the reason of this war. An event could be the Iron Curtain “From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the continent. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of Central and Eastern Europe.” (Doc. 1)
The Cold War began around the time the wartime confederation between the United States and the Soviet Union broke down, during the years 1945 - 1950. The battle between the two dominions, communism and capitalism, battle for more than 40 years. The Cold War essentially began with empty threats about bombing each other with weapons including nuclear bombs and ballistic missiles resulting in nothing but a game of I guess you can say “one on one basketball”. There were two sides to this war the entire time but the main countries that were battling was the United States and the Soviet Union. The United States, along with Canada and ten other nations of Western Europe, signed a treaty known as the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) in 1948.
The Cold War Era started in 1946 and lasted until 1989 when the Berlin war fell signifying its end. Many events happened through this time period that shaped American culture and brought us to where we are today. It all started in march 1947, which reflected the combativeness of president Harry Truman. Secretary George c Marshall told Europe that that policy of the United States was not directed “ against any country or doctrine but against hunger, poverty, desperation and chaos.” in 1947 the brutish announced that they could no longer support the pro western governments of the Mediterranean in their fight against communism. If the US could not take up the burden the whole region was in danger of falling under communist roll.
The Cold War was a “hybrid” war between the United States and the Soviet Union that started right after the end of World War II in 1947 (Two Super…). Both countries had strong political tensions toward each other. During the Cold War, although the two countries did not battle each other militarily, as a result of all the escalating tensions, the threat of an outright war made all parties nervous. The two countries, along with each other’s allies, differed in their opinions on postwar arrangements, with the Soviets backing out of their promise in the Yalta agreement, they were more interested in the spread of communism in the post WWII era.
The Cold War Was Significantly Different From Previous Wars The Cold War was a battle between America and Russia to the fight over power and control. The Cold War began in 1945, soon after World War II ended. The Cold War started because the U.S and U.S.S.R disagreed on the type of political system they wanted. U.S.S.R demanded the spread of communism which was a system where each person worked on their own and is paid according to their ability of work.
The Truman Administration started the Cold War by establishing the Truman Doctrine which was a doctrine that stated the United States will help any country that is threaten by communism, the Soviets. According to the video “The Cold War Crash Course US History #37“, Truman decided to try to establish this doctrine when he felt that Greece and Turkey were being under attack. We send aid and money to these countries trying to stop communism which was a sign to the Soviet that we were declaring war on them. Which then started this nuclear, cold war. The Truman doctrine enacted the containment policy, which was a policy that expressed that communism would eventually die if we keep it from spreading.
After World War II, everyone was surprised by the weapons used in it, especially the atomic bomb. The Cold War began right after World War II. The Soviet Union was coming to power, under Joseph Stalin, and taking over many European countries in form of a communist government. Since the United States was a capitalist party, and because of the Hitler incident, the US frowned upon communism greatly.
The cold war like all wars had heavy costs, costs of life, costs of freedom,and economic costs. According to Stephen I. Schwartz of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, the United States of America spent a minimum of five and a half trillion dollars on nuclear weapons between nineteen forty to nineteen ninety six. This was one of the many costs of the cold war and the United States action against the threat of Communism. Both Truman and Eisenhower focused on economic and military aid to combat the threat of Communism, however Eisenhower also focused on an expansion of military forces which was continued under Kennedy with an added focus on diplomacy.
