Europe First MacKenzie Cruz
The smell of conflict in the air, tanks firing, guns shooting, bombs exploding, World War II was beginning. "World War II had resulted in an estimated 55 million deaths worldwide" (Berthan, Simon). It all started when Hitler and the Nazi party came into power. The bad man, Hitler had told the Germans he would bring them back to power after they lost World War I and were humiliated and struggling. Adolf Hitler was elected Chancellor in 1933. Then, he became dictator. During 1936, Germany and Italy both wanted to destabilize the European Order so, they had signed a friendship pact. The European countries didn't want so they didn't do anything, Germany invaded Poland in 1939. This is when France and Great Britain declared

Union, and France. In 1941 the Axis Forces controlled most of Europe and most of Northern Africa. Again, in 1941, the U.S forces Europe stayed out of the war until Japan attacked the Pearl Harbor. After that the U.S. became a major power Allies Alliance. In June of 1943, D.Wight Eisenhower had become the commander of U.S. forces in Europe. In 1944 D.Wight Eisenhower gives the order to the paratroopers before they begin to fight in the first assault in the invasion of Europe.
Europe First was a strategy the allies created to focus on Hitler, and then the Pacific. Hitler cam first because he was the biggest threat. In Europe the
Allied forces were fighting Axis forces in the Eastern Front, Western Front, and finally the Mediterranean Theatre. On December 11, 1941 Germany and the U.S. declared war on each other. The U.S. also declared war on Italy the same day. In the beginning of 1943, sadly, the U.S. Forces were suffering losses against the Germans at Kasserine Pass. The U.S. troops in had victories in North Africa. Later, in May, the axis troops surrendered.
