I must say that European and Native Americans lives were drastically changed. Although, the Indians suffered mistreatment from the Europeans due to the Europeans taking their land.
For centuries after Columbus first landed in the New World, the arrival of European settlers impacted the lives of American Indians so immensely that their presence forever altered the landscape of the New World. The Europeans brought with them deadly germs and diseases—malaria, smallpox, and yellow fever—from which American Indians had no natural immunities, that decimated Indian populations. Additionally, they embarked on an aggressive quest for land—an encounter that led to many American Indian populations either being destroyed, dissolved or forced further and further west off of their ancestral lands. They eventually started to settle in their lands, disrupting their fields, homes, and graves, started to push them out when they found a new settlement. Europeans wanted them to convert to Christianity and used the Indians as interrupters. Many Indians including the son of the chief were kidnapped. The Indians mortality rate increased due to diseases that were brought from the Europeans. Overall, this essay made me realize how history viewed the Indians during the colonial period.
Throughout the centuries during colonial America, a lot of Europeans went to the Americas with new expectations or just for seeking something new. Most of them had absolutely no clue what to expect from the new land. Also, as soon as they arrived, they also encountered new aspects of the new land that they have never seen before back in Europe such as the Native Americans and their culture. They also had to go through a lot of hardships and frustrations within themselves or with the Native Americans, and not all the European colonists were successful in the Americas. Nevertheless, the Europeans brought in many changes to the Americas which impacted their lives or the lives of the Native Americans.
The conquistadors had many factors that had helped them conquer the large Native American civilizations that had already inhabited the Americas, but the greatest factors working in their favor were disease, technological advances, and tactics they used against the Native Americans. When the Europeans arrived to the Americas, they were set on their conquest to explore and to hopefully gain more wealth from conquering the Native American civilizations. The overall arrival of the Europeans would change the course of history and lead to devastating effects for the Native Americans. One of the first things that the Native Americans were affected by was the diseases that the conquistadors brought over from Europe.
When the Europeans came to the Americas, they didn’t know how to treat the Native Americans because they had never encountered other people who weren’t of their race. So Europeans developed this belief that they were superior then Natives and Africans. They took their resources and took advantage of them. They treated them harshly and turned them into slaves to make them work on their land. Some diseases tramsitted by the Europens were diseases such as “smallpox, measles, malaria, yellow fever, influenza,” (Malone, Cary et al.) and other Old Wolrd diseases. Native Americans didnt have to come inot contact with Europeans to become infected with their diseases. Throughout the late 1400’s and the 1500’s, the world experienced many changes due to the discoveries of new lands and peoples that had been never been visited before. The new-found lands of the Americas and exploration of Africa by the Europeans led to new colonies and discoveries in both areas. It also brought different societies and cultures together that had never before communicated, causing conflict in many of these places. While the Europeans treated both the Native Americans and West Africans as inferior people, the early effects they had on the Native Americans were much worse. Beginning in the late 1400’s, many different European explorers started to look for new trade routes in the Eastern Hemisphere in order to gain economic and religious power.

When Europeans came to America, life of Native Americans changed drastically. The Europeans stole their land, brought disease, and gained possession of all of their resources. Native American’s lives were dramatically changed. The Native American’s who lived on the coast were affected first. They were usually either killed, captured or made ill by diseases the Europeans brought.
Native Americans flourished in North America, but over time white settlers came and started invading their territory. Native Americans were constantly being thrown and pushed off their land. Sorrowfully this continued as the Americans looked for new opportunities and land in the West. When the whites came to the west, it changed the Native American’s lives forever. The Native Americans had to adapt to the whites, which was difficult for them.
The main point of this passage is to show the contrast of personal beliefs that would let to conflict; Europeans focused on the individual rather than the Native Americans who accentuate the collectivity. European exploration and conquest were fueled by three main goals; god, gold, and glory. Out of the three main goals, two of them are completely based on individual interest. When the Native Americans first meet the Europeans they greeted them with gifts and welcomed them into their collective family. This just increased the Europeans thirst for gold and glory.
The Americas consisted of many Native American societies, each with a unique culture. They had remained cut off from the rest of the world for thousands of years. European discovery and influx into America would shatter the Natives traditional world. The Spanish were among the first to explore the new world. Explorations brought disease that wreaked havoc on the Native populations.
Europeans began exploring the Americas in late 15th century. This had many effects on both the land of the Americas and the Native Americans that inhabited them. Many of the Native American cultures perished with the coming if the Europeans while some survived. A good deal of the Native American cultures that did survive, were very small. The Europeans did not mean to find the Americas, in fact, they were on a voyage to find a new route to Asia and The Indies.
While the colonization of the America’s was negative for many reasons such as the spread of illnesses, and the forcing of religion upon natives, it was also beneficial to the Native’s because it allowed them to have better weapons and to have different foods and goods in their lives. The Europeans exposed the Natives to many new diseases once they colonized the new areas they discovered. The Europeans greatly impacted the family life and religion of the inhabitants of the areas they found. There was also a lot of exchange going on during the conquest of the Americas because the Natives were excited by the new gadgets they had never seen before that the Europeans brought over.
