There were many things that caused the powers of the federal government to expand. One of the major reasons the power in the government grew rapidly was because of Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt had created many government run programs. The event that led to the creation of all the Government run programs was The Great Depression. The Great Depression had caused the economy to go down so the people were looking for help from the President.
