As Stephen Gardiner stated, “The industrial revolution was another one of those extraordinary jumps forward in the story of civilization.” The Industrial Revolution had a major impact on the lives of the population in addition to the world's industry and economics. It affected several aspects of people’s lives, but its effects on the lives of women in America were especially important. The various cultural and family changes brought about by this revolution influenced many aspects of their lives. Women's employment opportunities increased throughout the Industrial Revolution, which altered their social and family roles and had an effect on women's right to vote.

They stopped being housewives and became major providers for their families as they began working in factories.
