My last paper will be about the KKK, the history of them, who started them, what their purpose was. The KKK in my opinion was a group of individuals who terrorized black and white people. They would raid houses at night so they were not spotted. What I remember from a history class in high school was that they would travel during the night time on horses and light a house on fire and or the whole town. The Klan was named the Night Riders for taking horses at night and committing these crimes. Founded in the South on December 24 1865 to about 1871, which was the first Klan. By the way there are three Klan’s from the time span of 1865 to present day! The first Klan had an unknown number of members in it. Their costumes were often colorful. They also had robes, masks, and cone hats designed to hide their identity and look frightening. …show more content…

The Klan mostly targeted the freedmen and allies of this time period. They committed murder, had threats against blacks and white republicans. They rode at night and would shoot their guns into houses and then burn them down to the ground. Mostly blacks died in the crimes committed. The Federal government forced an Act which would shut this part of the Klan down. It would pursue the crimes committed by the Klan. In my opinion I think that a group like them who would threaten black people and all the other kind of people that the Klan did not prefer and hurt them was wrong. They committed murders because of the difference between blacks and whites, but also they did not like the white republicans. I just think that confederate soldiers getting a Klan together and taking out anger on people was not right of them. That is why the government shut them
