“Take hold of kettle, broom and pan, Then you’ll surely get a man!Shop and office leave alone, Your true life work lies at home.” Life changed dramatically for the women when The Nazi Party came to power in the 1930’s. Women only had a few restrictions but once Hitler came to power, their lives became very strict. Their lives changed in four areas: education, marriage, employment, and physical appearance. One of the major areas that The Nazi Party changed women’s life is education. The main goal for the Nazi Party was to reduce the amount of women in higher education. Women had only the chance to learn very few things and were banned from activities like learning Latin. Their lives had changed ever since they were young. Many women’s job like working as teachers and doctor were excluded. There were no women left in civil jobs by 1934. The number of teacher that were women was also reduce. The women were to give up their jobs once married. Lastly another area in which Nazi women affected their lives was their physical appearance. They weren’t aloud to wear any type of make-up nor do anything to their hair. For example they could not dye it nor do anything perm. For clothing they were to wear only flat shoes. Hair was important too. It had to be long or put in a bun. They were discouraged from slimming because it was considered bad for pregnancy and was unhealthy. Women were also discouraged from smoking not only was it ‘non-german’ to do so ,but it would bring problems to pregnancies.
The role of Nazi women had many restrictions. The Nazi ideology was to be a mother and a homebuilder, the role was promoted greatly. The central idea for Nazi women was children, church, and kitchen. That’s what affected education, marriage, employment and their physical constraints in their
