There are many contributions in the Greek society and today’s society. I chose 3 interesting contributions and they are the Olympics, the Marathon, and lastly the Hippocratic Oath. These contributions are a major role in today's society and in Greek society.
The olympics are a big part of today’s society and Greek society. The olympics in Greek society were much different than the olympics in today’s society.In the Greek olympics the sports started in Olympia at the 776 B.C. Olympics. There was a festival held at Olympia on a high civilized eastern coast of the Peloponnesian Peninsula. The festival took place during the pre- Christian golden age of Greece. The olympics were held in honor the god Zeus- the most important god. Then in the 18th Olympiad they added more sports the even more sports in the 25th Olympiad. In today’s olympics Pierre de Coubetin a young french man thought to make a educational program to balance the mind and body. Baron de Coubetin determination that gave impetus to the modern olympics. The marathon started 2,500 years ago. The Battle of Marathon in 490 B.C. one of the most significant battles in human history. The battle of Marathon is significant allowed democracy to develop and establish itself. After the Athens victory at the battle democracy blossomed.
