This paper will discuss the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty, 1978-1979. It will answer three questions. Who benefited more from the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty; Egypt, Israel, or the United States? How did the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty impact Egypt in the Arab world and Israel in the Middle East? What did the United States benefit and lose from the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty? The Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty led to the establishment of unstable peace between Egypt, Israel, and the United States, due to the different support by their own nations.
Each of the three countries benefitted to varying degrees. Egypt and Israel had been in a state of war since 1948. This treaty attempted to transform long standing beliefs and tension. It was declared that Israel would withdraw its military and civilians from the Sinai Peninsula. The religions of the opposing countries resulted in a state of war. It will discuss the Camp David Accords, called by President Jimmy Carter, and the difficulty to reach an agreement. The Prime Minister of Israel and the President of Egypt were both stubborn men who disliked each other. President Carter fought to maintain discussion during the treaty process and eventually succeeded in connecting the two countries. Egypt and Israel held opposing views and did not look kindly on each other. They connected due to the United States and their own fears of the Soviet Union.
