The world as a whole changed a lot after World War Two. The two most powerful countries afterwards were the United States and the Soviet Union, because the previous nations like Britain, Germany, and Japan were in ruins after the war. The United States and the Soviet Union, being the most powerful countries, often had a lot of competition with each other which led to another war. The term “Cold War” was created, because though the United States and Soviet Union were fighting, there were no weapons or actual physical fighting involved. Distrust between the two countries was the main reason why the war started in the first place.
The United States and the Soviet Union both believed in different forms of running their countries. The United States used a system called capitalism, meaning they supported private businesses and industries. The businesses had to be very responsible, because whether they had, losses or gains, they were responsible for them. The United States’ system of voting was democracy, meaning that the people had the right to vote for whom they wanted to run their country.
