The War That Failed To Bring Peace

World War II introduced modern warfare, which caused greater destruction than any other war in history. More than any previous American war, World War II was a watershed for technological and scientific innovations that gave the Allies the upper hand over Germany, ultimately proving decisive in winning the war. Meanwhile, Eisenhower’s predicted peace failed mainly due to the vagueness of the post-war agreements coupled with the ideological and economical interests of The United States and the Soviet Union--Democratic capitalism vs. Communism.

The rapid technological and scientific innovations of the Allies eventually outweighed that of the Axis powers, which proved decisive in turning the tie in their favor and ultimately winning the war. American methods of mass production-in particular the great automotive assembly lines- were efficiently converted to military production, which produced airplanes, ships, tanks and other ornaments in much greater numbers than the Germans and the Japanese could produce, leaving the Allies with more weapons to use against the enemy.
