On September 3, 2013, a sophomore named Bart Palosz committed suicide in Greenwich, Connecticut. Nina Golgowski discussed this in her article, “Connecticut Teen Who Committed Suicide.” Palosz’s story is very similar to Tyler Long’s, a boy who committed suicide in 2007. Tyler Long’s story was told by director Lee Hirsch in the movie Bully. Palosz and Long were treated horribly both verbally and physically by classmates, and nothing was done by their schools to help them. Their experience had such a major effect on their lives that they would rather be dead than have to live through it. The two boys commited suicide because of the way they were mistreated by their classmates and school.
There were several forms of bullying that Palosz had to

Friends of Palosz explained to Golgowski what had happened to him two years before his suicide that traumatized him: “In the eighth grade he was sent to the emergency room for stitches after a classmate bashed his head into a metal locker” (Golgowski). If he was put in that much danger, the community should have reacted immediately and put an end to his bullying without having to even think about it. Tyler was put in a similar situation - his head was slammed into lockers and his parents had to go to the school board to get help from them. Even then, the school said that they would help and did not. The two boys both endured terrible things and did not get any help, and the continued bullying lead to their …show more content…
They refused to admit what they knew Palosz had gone through. After getting his head smashed into a locker, “faculty members called the incident an accident, but refused to share hall security footage capturing the imagery with his family” (Golgowski). The school didn’t admit there was a problem, so Palosz was didn’t feel safe at school. It is ridiculous that he was treated like this, the problem was seen, and still no action was taken. Bart should have had a safe and fair experience at his school, and Long should have had one too. His parents brought his treatment to the school board multiple times and nothing was done - but when the Long’s sued the school after his death, they said they tried their best to stop students from bullying him. When the problem was ignored, the bullying continued, which made the boys situation much worse. The school’s ignorance was a leading cause of the boys
