Due to humanism, several methods of solving problems were galvanized. Experimenting and observing were just a few methods that were utilized. Therefore, many intellectuals came out of the Renaissance period. Some of them, such as Poggio Bracciolini, were involved in the analysis of old Latin text. For instance, in Vespasiano’s “Life of Poggio”, Poggio is recognized as an intelligent and respectful individual. With the help of other scholars, he began to discover and search through numerous Latin texts which were previously lost. According to Vespasiano’s “Life of Poggio”, the literal work of Quintilian and Tully’s De Oratore were just a few of the texts. (pg. 41 Poggio) Due to his discoveries, Renaissance Italy began to give immense respect and status to scholars. Without the efforts of scholars such as Poggio, very little knowledge and history would have been passed down to future generations. Thus, the life of Poggio represents the intellectual freedom that developed during the Renaissance. On the other hand, there were many individuals that attempted to understand the world around them.
