World War II was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945 and involved many major countries. The war began with the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany. It rapidly spread throughout Europe and progressed to outside countries. The thing that most angered Germany and could even be labeled as the origin of World War II was The Treaty of Versailles at the end of World War I. The treaty imposed heavy reparations on Germany, limited its military capacity, and forced it to give up territory to neighboring countries.
Major Impacts From World War II In 1939, the world entered one of its darkest periods when World War II began. Roughly 27,084,100 total deaths were recorded (Doc. 6). In 1942, American troops officially entered the conflict. Although the war was fought abroad, it had a great impact on the American homefront.
Many women were refused a voice at public meetings of equality and human rights, it inspired many people to begin speaking out for women's rights . Even after everything she did with the Sentiments and Conventions there were no rights given to women then. One good thing that came out of all the effort was that the women's rights movement was
Both World War I (WWI) and World War II (WWII) changed the idea of freedom by expanding rights in America. Before these wars, there was inequality among genders as well as ethnic groups. WWI was a fight democracy and WWII was a fight for true freedom. While WWI changed the idea of freedom in a social sense, WWII focused more on the idea of economic freedom. WWI changed the idea of freedom more for democracy than WWII did by dealing with civil liberties and social issues.
Women had achieved a higher position in society although relatively low compared to how far they have come today. They gained more rights such as further education and some had even been allowed to fight in the war (firstdivisionmuseum.org). Slavery also shifted during the war with over 10,000 slaves freed, mainly in the north making it less common (firstdivisionmuseum.org). There were also changes in religion. Every man was allowed to freely practice their religion without fear of persecution.
There are many events I know of that changed the world and impacted society, but I think that WWII played a big role in how we turned out. Women’s roles changed, weapons that we use today improved, and the economy changed after the war. WWII impacted women’s roles. Before the war, women’s rights weren’t that great and they weren’t great even after they helped in WWI.
The war resulted in 407,000 Americans being killed. The trauma from the war was also expressed in American culture. The war also resulted in many new technologies such as radio communications, jet engines, computer, radar, and many others. The end of WWII left the world with two superpowers: us and Russia. Thus began the arms race and the red scare.
My understanding of World War II has changed greatly, I have come to learn that we were not as innocent as we say we were. We were biased in many ways, we indirectly invoked our involvement in the war. We studied World War I, and at the time, I thought that the espionage act was unconstitutional. I now think that is was a necessary evil after seeing the separation on the home front. In World War II we were more united and separated than ever before.
It gave women the right to vote which had an enormous impact on American society and culture and subsequently lead to other major benefits for women. Women didn’t have many rights before the Women’s Suffrage Movement. They could not vote, couldn’t own any property after marriage, or if married couldn 't keep their own wages. Men could of beaten their wife
Similar to the first World War, World War II was a dispute between powers and or countries and involved the death of million of civilians and militants of those disputing countries. There are many events that have made World War II significant and i will show you in this essay. World War II started basically because of one of the most known killer in the world Adolf Hitler. His role in the Holocaust is greatly significant because of the way that he punished, treated, and through of jews using concentration camps. In concentration camps jews were gassed, imprisoned and forced to do things that they didn't want to like forced labor.
As women became more involved their ability to further improve their societal standing increased as they gained more power through reform. Women became more involved in the workforce. They were paid more, better protected, and more well respected. World War One showed the nation that women could fill the role of men and produce on a level that made them important. Women also changed the progressive era by focusing on the welfare of the poor and low class.
After WWII, society took a drastic change for the better in America. America had just gone through the Great Depression, which was the deepest decline in America’s whole history and everyone was affected. Numerous people lost their jobs and were no longer able to afford basic necessities like a house, food, and water. Many could no longer support their families and had nothing. This was all in result of the market crashing, sending the economy into a downward spiral.
When I say World War I, what do you think of? Not much right? It’s all just a battle that happened in the past. Not many people know what happened and do not know a lot about it, while everyone knows about the Civil War, the Revolutionary War, or even World War II, etc. World War I was also an important war that changed how our world is today.
