The American culture began to change after World War II. Everyone wanted to settle down after the war, who wouldn't want to start a family after surviving a world war? “They wanted to settle down and start something of their own” says Bill Smith, a baby boomer and Vietnam veteran. This change of culture consisted of many men who had just gotten out of the war to move to suburban areas and have children. The veterans were seeking happiness.
After World War II, American society changed dramatically. One change was the GI Bill. This bill provided for veterans after the war. The benefits to this bill was low-cost mortgages, low-interest loans to start a business, cash payments for college, and one year of unemployment compensation. Another change was the population shift.
World War Two managed to completely change American society in numerous ways. One of the aspects transformed was US’s foreign policy. Before the war, US was an isolationist. They had neutrality acts to keep them from engaging in Europeans armed hostilities, refused to join the League of Nations and the world court, and were overall not involved in world affairs. After WW2, the United States frequently intervenes, never retreats, they also have military bases all around the world, they joined the League of Nations (which they stationed in NY), and were overall more active in foreign policy.
World War II helped to end the United State’s economic problems. Fundamentally, preparing for the war helped to end the U.S.’s financial troubles. In 2008, the United States almost experienced financial ruin again, as the economy was failing once again. Had it not been for the programs that lasted, the U.S. could have went into another depression. The government played a vital role in the economy, which helped to end the Depression.
Throughout American history, it is no longer once it was use to be. Through evolution of events and the people, every decision impacts how history will continue. With the public voicing their concerns and leaders moving the nation in the direction in hopes that will further opportunities to create a greater country. American history is often portrayed as a story of consistently expanding opportunities that has changed the lives of different groups of Americans, and has brought Americans together as well as pushed them apart.
Both World War I (WWI) and World War II (WWII) changed the idea of freedom by expanding rights in America. Before these wars, there was inequality among genders as well as ethnic groups. WWI was a fight democracy and WWII was a fight for true freedom. While WWI changed the idea of freedom in a social sense, WWII focused more on the idea of economic freedom. WWI changed the idea of freedom more for democracy than WWII did by dealing with civil liberties and social issues.
World War Two Ending The Great Depression In a time, when The Progressive Movement had created hundreds of different reform movements with progressive ideals and when World War Two ended with an American victory in Europe and in The Pacific. It is in this context that the Great Depression had completely devastated the American Economy. Three significant ways World War Two brought The United States out of the Great Depression were the massive amount of wartime production, and influx of new types of workers.
World War II caused major social, economic and international change in the United States. World War II had a significant social impact on the US, setting the stage on the home
World War II is viewed as one of the largest and most catastrophic conflicts in human history. Under the reign of German Chancellor Adolf Hitler, the Nazi party and German Army made an attempt to spread his ideology throughout Europe. Beginning with the German invasion into Poland, the World found itself at war. The United Kingdom alongside France and the United States would make an attempt to stop Hitler and contain the German attempt of capturing a vast portion of Europe. As the war kicked off Germany, Japan, and Benito Mussolini, an Italian Fascist Party leader, formed what was known as the “Axis Powers.”
“World War 1 was the most colossal, murderous, mismanaged butchery that has ever taken place on earth. Any writer who has said otherwise lied, so the writers wrote propaganda, shut up, or fought.” Ernest Hemingway said this about WW1, about how much violence had happened during this terrible event in history. When people think about the end of the first world war, they think of positive things, but many people do not realise that WW1 had many negative effects on not only the U.S. but on the rest of the world also. The events of the Armistice day and WW1 as a whole, negatively affected the U.S. and it’s citizens.
How did the American economy shift to support World War II? Economics is typically defined as how resources are managed within a system. However, the resources mentioned are not the ones that are typically thought of. Typically resources are only thought of as oils, gases, and minerals. Although, those are not always the most important.
World War II caused many changes for the United States across seas and most importantly on the home-front. The United States previously endured a major change with the Great Depression and had yet to adapt to another change with the start of World War II in 1939. With the Great Depression taking millions of jobs from the people of the United States, World War II brought them out of the depression and gave back millions of those jobs and more. The main reason for the jobs to return was to help with the war efforts of World War II. As the United States did not enter the war until 1941, Germany previously invaded Poland in 1939 and formed the axis powers with Japan and Italy.
This is the effect that World War I had on America. This is the war in which we stated we were neutral and then entered the war looking for a peaceful outcome. Wilson wanted to have democracy for the world, but he didn’t want to do what was necessary to achieve his goal. He thought that international law and organization would do the hard work of convincing all countries to convert to democracy. If he would have done this then it would have been national interest in which we was running the country for instead of moral and legal ideas.
Shortly after, WWII came around and it pulled the economy back up by providing jobs for people. Not only did it provide jobs, but it also changed the way people lived and the ideas of consumerism. People now had more money to spend on things they wanted, rather than barely being able to afford necessities. The transformation of American society after WWII can be seen through suburbanization, the GI Bill, the automobile, effects of consumerism on society
World War 2 and its Effect on American Society The 1930’s witnessed the rise of aggressive, totalitarian regimes. After World War 1, Germany became a fascist state under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, Mussolini started to gain political control of Italy, and Imperial Japan became ever more aggressive to its Asian neighbors. This was all leading up to a global conflict. With Germany invading Poland in 1939, the world was again in a state war.
