How do think clouds would affect the high and low temperatures in each region?

A clouds effect on the temperature depends on how high up the cloud is, the type of cloud, and time of day. For example, thick white clouds can have a cooling or warming effect depending on the time of day. During the night, these clouds act as insulation. The heat emitted from the earth’s surface is absorbed by the clouds and is re-radiated back to the earth. Therefore at night, thick cloud coverage can slow down temperature decreases and have a warming effect. On the other hand, thick white clouds during the day can have a cooling effect. Yes, there is a difference between the high and low daily temperatures along the coast versus inland. Temperature variations are smaller in coastal regions than in comparison to inland areas. Therefore, the high temperatures and low temperatures of the coastal regions will be closer together than in inland areas. Areas near the ocean have a more moderate temperature range than inland areas and stay cooler during the day. A coastal region’s high temperature will be lower than an inland region’s high temperature.

This is reflected in the data collected. La Jolla is closest to the coast. Alpine is second closest to the coast. Blythe is third closest to the coast. In general, Blythe seems to have the highest temperature variability. Blythe’s high temperature is the highest out of all the cities. Both Alpine, and La Jolla’s high temperatures were close to each other which makes sense since both are relatively close to the coast. In regards to low temperatures, it is harder to make out a trend.
