“ I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know that you’re liked before you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.” [ Atticus Finch]. This quote states what real courage is. In the book To kill a Mockingbird there are 3 main characters who represents courage. Atticus is the main character who represents courage throughout the book. Jem as a little boy has learned about courage from his father, what shows that he is also courages. Boo Radley who we never heard from much represents courage in a different way than Atticus and Jem. As he grew he understood more and more which helped him build up his courage. Jem read to Mrs.Deebos when she was sick. He was forced to read to her after he destroyed her flowers. When he read to her he soon realized that if he had known about her life than he wouldn’t have been so mean about reading to her. The reason that he read to her was because she could stop her addiction on Morphine and so when jem would read to her she would stop using Morphine. Another thing was big and that really standed out by Jem was the way he would try to protect his sister. When they go attacked he would try to get up and help Scout out of her costume so she could run away, another thing is that he would fight back to when they got attacked to the point where he got knocked out. Boo communicated with Scout and Jem in a way that no one would think of. He would always have something for them inside the tree trunk, once he would put gum, another was a watch, after his father knowing that he communicates with the children he decide to block the tree trunk with cement. Boo also covered scout with a blanket without her knowing. When there was a fire and her and jem had to go out scout and jem where both cold and didn’t feel when boo came and covered them with a blanket without them feeling him. But what was something important was when he defended them when Bob Ewell attacked them. He looked out for jem and scout when they were going home and when he saw them being attacked he went and defended them, which lead to him killing Bob Ewell with a kitchen knife. “Thank you for my children, Arthur,” [Atticus] this shows that atticus was thanking boo for his bravery to protect over the children that weren’t even his but he looked at them as his children. Boo showed courage from like behind the scene by looking out for Scout and Jem without anybody
