The Change of Gatsby’s Identity

All people on earth have their own identities, it defines who they are as a human being. Identity is not fixed, as a person grows and learns more about themselves and the world, their identity changes. Experiencing hardships in life will also help shape one’s identity. After reading The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald, the development of the identities of various characters is clearly demonstrated. In particular, the development of Jay Gatsby’s identity is shown most prominently.Jay Gatsby learns more about himself, others, and his environment which help nurture his growing identity. Jay Gatsby’s identity for other people is constantly changing because of the continuous pressure that he encountered while dealing with these people.

After the party, Gatsby acknowledges to Nick that Daisy did not have a good time at the party, he also tells Nick that he wants to recover everything back to how it use to be back between himself and Daisy back in Louisville.
