When someone fantasizes about something amazing, they may drive themselves to the point of death to achieve this dream. The Great Gatsby is a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is a novel about Nick Caraway, Daisy, Tom and Gatsby. Gatsby was a wealthy man who took pride in his money. He enjoys showing it off and spending it for other people's enjoyment. He has a military background which we will see has heavily impacted who he is as a person and his relationships. Nick argues that the past can never be recreated perfectly, but Gatsby believes he can have his exact life back. This has to do a lot with Gatsby’s career path, before Gatsby left for the military he was in love with this girl from his hometown. While in the military back when this novel took place, there were only guys in the military. While there Gatsby had no woman to put his attention towards so all he had to think about was the only girl he knew, Daisy. When he gets back from the military, his whole mission or idea of this American dream is to recreate his life with Daisy. This will be made very hard because of events that happened while Gatsby was gone. Her voice is full of money. In this quote, Gatsby is thought to be talking about how he will win over the love of his life, Daisy. He is also seen throwing parties for anyone to come uninvited. Nick also says he doesn't let money change his morals. He has an end goal for these parties. He hopes Daisy will come. No matter what he does he always seems to have Daisy in mind, everything he has done leading up to his point has won Daisy back in the plan.
