Iago is a widely deceptive character who uses trickery to change Othello’s values. William Shakespeare uses ethos to develop the central idea that manipulation can take over the minds of many, causing them to put trust in concepts that go against their morals. Othello has deep love for his wife Desdemona until he falls into Iago’s trap. Iago uses the manipulation of Othello to portray himself as an honest and trustworthy man. William Shakespeare uses ethos in Iago’s dialogue to appeal to his morals and values.
