The Call of the Wild is a fictional novel written by Jack London. This book is one of London’s most famous novels. The Call of the Wild takes place in northwestern Canada near Dawson City, and lasted from 1896 to 1899. This famous piece of literature written by Jack London is told through the third person point of view. As the novel The Call of the Wild carries on, you will notice that Buck is the book’s central character. In this story, Buck is a sled dog that pulls many different men along with his team. Throughout the story, Buck and his team of sled dogs conquer many different obstacles, and they learn the primitive ways. By the end of the novel, Jack London very clearly emphasized that not long after the team of dogs learned the primitive ways in the wild, they quickly turned savage and more violent than they had been previously. As a result of the team of sled dogs acting in this savage way, they lived more peacefully in the wild; almost like that was where they belonged. Although many characters in The Call of the Wild adored Buck, some took him for granted. Some of the characters that used Buck but did not give any appreciation towards him was Hal, Charles, and Mercedes. He was used to being at Judge Miller’s place because that is where he was born and raised. The next owners Buck had were Francois and Perrault who bought Buck so that he could help them beat the record time in the Klondike. After Francois and Perrault, Bucks next owners were Hal, Charles, and Mercedes. None of them were very intelligent, so they got Buck taken away by Thorton only a short time after they found him.
