“Jem threw open the gate and sped to the side of the house, slapped it with his palm and ran back past us” (Harper, 1960. pg 76.) Jem ages from 10 to 13 over the course of To Kill a Mockingbird, during this period a lot of change happens to Jem. Jem learns and adopts many new morals and characteristics over this course. For instance, Jem represents the charcteristic of bravery in To Kill A Mockingbird, and this reminds me of myself at a younger age because I showed bravery and many other of the same characteristics as Jem.
