Who Has The Better Speech In the play Julius Caesar two men are at each other because the death of the great and powerful Julius Caesar. Caesar's death was brought to him by a group of conspirators including his best and trusting friend Marcus Brutus. Now that his ally and friend is dead Antony seeks his revenge on the conspiracy. At the funeral of caesar both men will give a speech to try and get the crowed in their side using there way with words to their advantage. By using pathos and ethos both of these men will speak to conveyance to the commoners that they are right. Brutus uses many methods in his wide scale of vocabulary the he has picked closely. He tries to tell people that what he did was write and that if he did not kill Caesar than he would be a terrible leader. Caesar was a friend to brutus and he trusted him. The conspiracy manipulated Brutus into thinking that killing him was best for Rome. The only reason that Brutus joined the conspiracy was to do good by rome and that is what he tries to tell the commoners in his speech. Brutus agrees to let him talk because he thinks if a man as loyal and trusted to him as Antony speaks for him saying good things about the conspiracy than that would make them look good and be accepted. What he did not count for was how good he was at using his words in a way that he kept to the agreement but still convinced the people that what they were doing was wrong. In Antony's speech he used a lot of sarcasm and made the commoners feel anger toward the conspiracy. He proved to the people that Caesar was not ambitious but loving to his people.
