The three mighty rhetoric, Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. Using these will win one a vocal war, also known as an argument. But if used wrong can end up as dead as Polyneikes and one can lose this vocal and mental war. Sophocles, a Greek tragedian, wrote the Athenian tragedy, Antigone. Moreover, the story tells of King Kreon coming into power, with the first law in place denying Polyneikes the right to a proper burial after he died in battle. Furthermore, Kreon voices to the Thebans about many disasters such as how “[Thebes has] survived some rough weather. Monstrous waves have battered our city, but now the gods have steadied the waters'' (Sophocles 251). Secondly, Kreon uses Pathos in his speech, stating his credibility by saying the things he will do for Thebes. As he speaks of loyalty to Thebes. Insisting that he will take the advice of others. Speaking to Thebes about how “there’s nothing worse than a man, while he’s running a city, who fails to act on sound advice - but fears something so much his mouth clamps shut” (Sophocles 251-252). Correspondingly, Kreon talks about Thebes, how he will do better things than past rulers, how he will empathize with Thebes, and his empathy for not just the city, but also the Thebans.
