Luke Moresea 10-17-14 Period 9 Documentary #2 Essay This documentary uses a lot of rhetoric devices throughout the entire movie. The purpose is to attract attention to the slaughtering of dolphins in Taiji, Japan. They want to attract attention to this matter because not only is this very cruel to these animals but it is also poisoning the civilians of Japan for eating dolphin meat because dolphin meat is very toxic with mercury.
Alejandra Gomez Campaign Conclusion In every presidential campaign, candidates and their PR team work hard to grab the attention of their audience. As of today, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump all used similar techniques to appeal to the people. Using the different elements; Ethos, Pathos and Logos the people were able to decide which side they want to support. Using Ethos, Pathos and Logos helped my team and I create an interesting yet informative campaign.
After researching three different guiding companies, I have accumulated a great sum of data for all. The three said companies are Alpine Ascents, Adventure Consultants, and Mountain Madness. Each company has set background history, costs, and even requirements for their potential climbers to recognize. She discusses the various life challenges she faces, and talks about the controversial topic of equal rights and women equality in the work force.
Quintyn Brady Zaivion Cade Debra Giles Molinda Hollie Zharia Simmons Title Abe Fortas makes a better argument due to his wide variety of rhetorical devices, contributing information on the circumstances of the case properly educating the audience on what’s being presented. Fortas’ management of rhetorical devices gives a clear viewpoint of different perspectives being confronted to the audience. Abe Fortas uses superb diction throughout his argument in the Tinker v. Des Moines case. For instance, “That is the basis of our national strength and of the independence and vigor of Americans who grow up and live in the relatively permissive , often disputatious society.”
Some Contemporary Issues is an article found on Gale database with an unknown author and with an unknown intended audience. The article seems to inform the audience about Native American issues he or she would not know prior to reading. The unknown author effectively uses many tactics to pursue the audience to his or her point of view. The two that stand out the most are pathos and logos.
1. Describe the type of speech--informative, persuasive, celebratory. Why? I would say overall this speech was celebratory with persuasive tones throughout. This speech was made to commemorate and celebrate the accomplishments of what has been done so far in the United States, while urging for action from each party and member of states in order to make a better America.
Literary Devices Strengthen Arguments Ethos can be described as “the character or emotions of a speaker that is expressed in the attempt to persuade an audience” according to the Britannica encyclopedia. Ethos provides credibility for Jeffery Selingo in his piece “Why more teenagers and college students Need to Work While in School,” he argues about college students and working while getting an education. He brings up many points and strengthens his points through the use of literary and rhetorical devices. For instance, he backs up his argument by providing logos to give factual information that readers can trust. Throughout Selingos’ argumentative piece, he uses statistics, other people's information, and words that have distinct feelings.
We are a nation of repetition. A nation where one can easily study our history to view a glimpse of our future. But we choose to ignore the facts, which are directly in front of us and repeat our mistakes with the result being terrible consequences. But we refuse to acknowledge the truth that continually stares our nation in the face. As a result, the author is comparing the reason for obesity in nineteenth century and the twenty-first century; he does this in order to illuminate the link between the two.
Why is it important for colleges to have a mission statement? It is important for college universities to have mission statements because it indicates what the college academic policy offers students. Mission statements should provide the organization’s purpose and sense of direction while making the university look attractive within the organization to incoming students. A successful mission statement should be able to covey ethos, pathos and logos in some sort of way which will be used in principles of the mission statements. Rhetorical Analysis In “What Is a Rhetorical Analysis?” rhetoric is defined as the use of “text” in order to properly persuade one’s audience. That is to say, the context of what is being said has no effect unless the audience is captivated by how the information is relayed. The use of Logos, Pathos, and Ethos varies in “Breaking News: Some Bullshit Happening Somewhere,” “Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks,” and “John Adams vs. Thomas Jefferson,” nor is every component present.
Scheindlin explains the flaws that mandatory sentences have and how their impact effect people and the community. She uses pathos, logos and ethos to expand and back up her claim of the negative effects of these laws. Retire federal judge Scheindlin expressed her dislike of the minimal sentences laws that she was required to carry out during her career. She gave countless reason why the laws caused more harm than good to those these laws affected. She used a man named Fabre to explain how these unfair law negatively affected people and those around them.

In the TED talk” Less stuff, more happiness" presented by Graham Hill in October of 2011 he informs the audience about rethinking if you need everything in your life. He gives this speech to the TED audience in hopes to make a difference in their lives.
Writing this visual rhetorical analysis was a new experience and has helped me to become a better writer overall. This rhetorical analysis has taught me how to further analyze a directors use of ethos, logos, and pathos while critically watching or looking at any visual. For this assignment I learned how to analyze different film elements and how to use that to support my thesis. This paper has been a great learning experience and has been very beneficial.
