How Does Milton Turn Away From His Work?

In John Milton’s Paradise Lost, he takes quite a different approach than the story we all know about Adam and Eve in the Bible. In this poem, Milton focuses a lot more on character description, motives, and actions prior to the fall of Eden, rather than stating what happened. Due to the character descriptions that Milton forms in the work, it is easy to make assumptions on how he viewed man and woman. I believe what Milton wants the reader to take away from his work is that women are not born into being submissive to man, but rather it something that they learn over the course of their lives.
