We are moving to the land of freedom.” Stated by Martin Luther King Jr. The book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry it is about a southern black family that is struggling to live in a community of cruel white people. The logan family is a happy family made up of seven people. They try to keep their land and lives in the harsh time period that they live in. The book takes place in a small town in Mississippi during the 1930s. The logans are only one of the black families that are trying to live in the harsh environment. The logans try to fight through the racism, segregation , and continuous amount of white populations. Courage are people that try to fight for their rights and show what is truly right, even if it is extremely dangerous and illegal. Courage is also someone that stands up for others. Mr. Jameson shows courage when in the second book T.J gets to do a trial. Mr. Jameson is willing to help him win the trial so that he can get out of jail. Mr. Jameson knows that a white man helping a black child will make people dislike him. Because of him, believing T.J’s story his office building got burned and his dog got poisoned. Mr. Jameson showed courage because even if he will get laughed at and if he will be disliked he will still help a black kid win a trial for murder and robbery. Mr. Jameson believes T.J’s side of the story and he wants people to believe him so that T.J can get out of jail. Also in the movie, When Stacey, Cassie, Big Ma, and T.J go to strawberry Mr. Jamison stands up for Cassie when she gets pushed into the street by Mr. Wallace. He tells Mr. Wallace that pushing Cassie was just so that he can have more power which he didn't need. This is because of segregation. Cassie is black and she has to listen to Mr.
