To begin with they did not get along with Anne frank. In the story, the Van Danns get annoyed with Anne. Mr. Van Dan also thinks Anne is an instigator. They did not get along with each other. Mrs.Van Dan and Mr. Van Dan argued because Mr. Van Dan said they could have made it to America already but Mrs. Van Dan forgot to pack her stuff.
Kicking people out should only happen for the right reasons. Ms. Frank kicked out the Vann Dann's for the following reasons. The Vann Dann's in the Diary of Anne Frank play are represented as selfish stealers, Ms. Vann Dann being disrespectful and her also being rude, and lazy. In the first place, stealing food from the Franks during such a difficult time is selfish of Mr. Vann Dann.
During World War II, the German Reich marched across the entire continent of Europe. During the Holocaust, many people became discouraged and lost hope in the future of society. However, the excerpts from “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” written by herself, and “Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler’s Shadow” by Susan Campbell Bartoletti, prove that being positive and persevering is the best thing that someone can do. Whether hiding from the Nazis or already taken by them, the best response to have during conflict and chaos is maintaining a positive outlook on life and to persist through difficult times.
Conflict Anne Frank Anne has an external conflict because Mr. Van Daan is always telling her to be like her sister. Mr. Van Daan Mr. Van Daan has an external conflict because he has problems with the people looking for his family, the Franks, and himself. Mr. Frank Mr. Frank has an external conflict because, like Mr. Van Daan, he is facing problems with people looking for him. Mrs. Van Daan Mrs. Van Daan has an external because she doesn’t really like Anne falling in love with her son.
I could kill you for this. I could just kill you! (Mrs. Van Daan goes up the stairs, clutching the coat. Mr. Van Daan starts after her.)” This evidence shows that Mrs. Van Daan is a sensitive character and even though Anne apologized for her actions, she still got mad and outbursts on her.
If you look deeper into the story, you can see that Mr. Van Daan was not very nice to the others in the annex. Mr Van Daan was extremely rude to his son for no reason. For example, when his son, Peter, was doing his school work, Mr. Van Daan got upset at Peter because he was not finished. The Frank girls had already finished their work. Mr. Van Daan basically was putting Peter down and did not want to help him because he "Did not listen to him.
(Act 1 & Scene 3) It presents this attitude by him trying to parent someone else's kid. Without reason he’s malicious towards Anne. Mr. Van Daan doesn't comprehend that she’s just a child and is naive at this age. When Mr. Van Daan gets aggravated he says things
In the drama, “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, Mr. Van Daan is perceived to be the most difficult to live with in the secret annex. His moody, disgruntled personality would make it hard to live with him anywhere. In one scene, Mr. VanDaan is appeared to be woken up and walks to stairs for a quick snack, but due to the risks of going out of the secret annex to get more food they have to stay safe as much as possible, he wakes up Mrs. Frank, who yells for Mr. Frank, which causes a huge pandemonium and even the threat of kicking out a family. This is an example of how Mr. Van Daan did always make the most sharp-witted of
Mrs. Van Daan has the highest potential to be awarded the worst character in the play due to her talkative nature, annoying behavior, and biased attitude, which contribute to the tension and conflicts within the secret annex and ultimately lead to the falling of the group. Mrs. Van Daan's talkative nature is a big factor in her being the worst character in the play, as her constant chatter and tendency to interrupt others not only annoy others in the annex, but also disrupt the already tense and claustrophobic area in which they live. Mrs. Van Daan's tendency towards panic and irrational thinking is shown when she becomes convinced that something bad has occurred to the Franks and fears that they have been discovered by the Nazis, stating, "Something’s appended to them! I know it! ...
Anne: Mrs. Van Daan Mrs. V. Daan: This is awful - I haven’t anything for anyone - I never thought… Mr. Frank: This
Anne Frank was a very energetic young girl who tended to annoy the people around her with her thoughts, and never thinks about the things she says before she speaks out. During this time, Adolf Hitler has come into power, taking jewish people and their families away from their homes, killing, starving or working them to death, that has also come to be known as the Holocaust. Due to this and Anne’s family being jewish, they take action and go into hiding in an annex above an office with one other family named the Van Daans. The main events that happen, affect
First of all, Otto is very unselfish whereas Mr. Van Daan only cares about his own wellbeing. I say this because on page 174, Anne writes
Resistance in the Holocaust It was difficult to resist oppression during the Holocaust, but some people did, both actively and passively. Active resistance is physically arming yourself to fight for something you believe in. However, many opted for passivity to fight Nazi ineffable cruelty and injustice more discreetly. In “The Diary of Anne Frank”, “Violins of Hope”, and “Resistance during the Holocaust” we read about various acts of passive resistance. People can best respond to conflict by passively resisting because such acts maintain human dignity, preserve cultures, and give the best chance at survival.
Imagine how it feels to be stuck in a tiny, miniscule room for almost two years, not able to make a sound or movement and if heard by someone, death or concentration camp is the destination? The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is about a small family which consists of Anne, Margot, Mr. Frank, and Mrs. Frank who were in a shock of fear, and went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Over the course of the story other characters join the family into hiding such as Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, and their son Peter. During the time of hiding, Anne kept a diary to write down all her thoughts, fears, and feelings and was later known to be the most important piece of literature from the times of the Holocaust. The story takes you through their everyday lives of hiding in the annex which also includes arguing and times of happiness.
It upsets her how there is so much bad in the world, and that people can’t be happy and kind to each other, especially in a time of depression, when team growth is needed the most. She is then lead to the need of comfort. She wants the Van Daans to end their quarreling. She hates how Dussel doesn’t favor her very much, etc. Dussel and Anne are forced to share a room together, and Dussel always complains to the other adults about how annoying she is, which causes more arguing, which stresses her out even more.
