Topic: To what extent does the clash between globalism and nationalism shape identity?
Identity is a common value between people who live in the same national border. Their common heritage is identity. Identity is very essential for societies because the proof of their presence and history is associated with it. However, identity may change and undergo transformations over time. There are some reasons for this, but the most significant reason is the clash between globalism and nationalism. They are the integral part of the life, so their impacts are inevitable. These impacts are both favourable and unfavourable. Popular cultures are sweeping and are erasing indigenuous cultures, so the fact that protecting identity is very tough in global world is known. Diversity has been spreading dramatically with immigration and other ways, such as Internet, social media and television. Thus, mixing ideas and cultures have gone up and this situation has become the obstacle to sustain pure identity. This is because, there is a cultural fusion and countries have begun to affect each other.When different cultures become widespread in the countries, old ones have begun to be forgotten over time.To illustrate, KFC and McDonalds have become so popular in the world and indigenous cultures have been converted into them owing to their popularity.
