The American language is an important part of what creates unity in our country. If we can all understand one another, then we can move forward in a unified direction. I feel in order for this to occur, that our school systems and the immigrants who enter this country should have to learn the English language. America should form a national language to send a message for all to know that our country has an identity. There are so many cultural differences in America that having one official language could change the view not only to American citizens but also from other countries. It could also provide for fairer social policies. At the present time, America has no official language. English is the main language that is spoken and has been for centuries. Children within the school system should learn languages from two cultures. I feel that it is important for children who do not speak English to learn it if they want to become prosperous in this country. It would also be beneficial for those who speak English to learn a second language. We have so many Spanish speaking individuals in our country that learning to speak their language could be beneficial for future generations to come.
