During Modern World History 2, the topics that have been addressed impacted a specific event in history. Whether it be the rise of Fascism, or the revival of imperialism these ideals lead to change that created the world we know today. However the most important lesson that was taught, is the nationalistic ideas of the world. Nationalism is a fearsome force that rallies people together. It is not only a force that unified the masses, but it allowed for the formation of strong countries and movements. The products of nationalism resulted in shaping the different borders and international relations present today. Nationalism can be seen as a factor that started many major conflicts.As stated during Ms.Dove’s lectures, the start of WWI began to spiral out of control when Russia and Germany became allies to opposing sides. Their reason for joining the conflict, was because of a similarity in people having the same culture and sharing national pride. Additionally the Third Reich also known as Nazi Germany was founded upon the idea of making Germany stronger as a whole appealing to people’s pride in their nation (WWI basics powerpoint, Social Darwinism). These major wars were caused due to the fact that countries had a strong sense of national pride. Repeatedly refusing to back down from conflict, their once small skirmishes snowball into something much bigger. Showing that nationalism is a factor that started some of the most tragic wars known to man.However this is not the only reason why nationalism is important, for example it also was a leading cause in decolonization.Often when an imperialistic country colonizes another, most of the people in said colony are the native people. Resulting in the eventual revolt of the indigenous
