World War I was inevitable because of imperialism, the Industrial Revolution, and Nationalism. Imperialism led to a lot of tension between the countries since not every country was satisfied with the amount of land they got to imperialize. The Industrial Revolution caused a need for more raw materials as well as competition about which country grows more. Nationalism made every country want to be the best and this led to even more competition between the big superpowers. Overall, the tension caused by imperialism, the Industrial Revolution, and Nationalism made World War I unavoidable. Many European countries were aggressively chasing after more land to imperialize in the late 1800s. This led to the Berlin Conference which was held by Otto von Bismarck.In the Berlin Conference, 15 nations tried to prevent conflict by dividing up Africa territory so that there would be a peace. However, many countries wanted more and more land so there was no way that every country would be satisfied. The tension that would be formed by all of these countries wanting more land would make war inevitable. The Industrial Revolution caused many countries to grow rapidly. For countries to grow, they need raw materials. One way of getting raw materials was to take it from a different county. Nationalism made people feel prideful for their own countries which led to Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is the desire that everyone had for their country to be the best at everything. This kind of thinking caused people to want to stand up for their countries. People began to feel defensive for their own countries and that led to everyone wanting to fight and even risk dying for their own country.
