In the “Great Expectations,” there is a boy named Pip; actually his real name is Pirrip but he calls himself Pip. We seep Pip grow up and acquire new characteristics over time. Pip had never seen his father or his mother before they died. Pip is being raised by his sister, Mrs. Joe Gargery, who treats him horribly in many ways. Mrs. Joe fell in love with a blacksmith named Joe Gargery, and they ended up getting married. Estella is a beautiful girl that Pip likes because she is always attracting him in many ways. Pip needs to see the fact that money doesn't buy happiness, he is disrespectful to his peers, and he judges things on looks rather than than looking at what is on the inside. If he corrected all of these things then maybe he would be a better person. Pip ends up making changes that need to be made to his character later on. …show more content…
In this book we see Pip go from not having money to having a lot of it in the end. He does not realize that money doesn't buy happiness because he loses all of his friends becoming rich. Pip explains that Estella and him are friends and Estella says that she does not want to see him anymore. “We are friends,” said I, rising and bending over her, as she rose from the bench. “And will continue friends apart,” said Estella.” This means that Estella does not want to see Pip again because she does not like him the way that he likes her. He did not think that it would ruin any friendships when he was rich, but in the end he loses all of his friends and almost
