TaylorMade is a company that produces golf products and gear to help improve the scores of golfers around the world. TaylorMade was made in 1979 in McHenry Illinois by Gary Adams. Gary Adams was a Golf equipment salesman prior to starting the company. In 1979 Mr. Adams took a loan of 24,000 dollars to start TaylorMade. A French group called Salomon Group purchased TaylorMade in 1984 from Gary Adams. Later, Adidas purchased the French group and acquired TaylorMade in the purchase in 1997. KPS partners later bought the company in May of 2017 from Adidas for $425 million. TaylorMade Golf is currently the owned by the Centroid Investment partners after it was purchased from KPS Capital Partners for an undisclosed amount in May 2021. TaylorMade sells golf bags, golf gloves, golf balls, polos, clubs, and any accessories that you can think of. They sell hats and many other apparels such as quarter zips, pants, and casual comfy clothes. TaylorMade is one of the leading sellers of golf needs closely competing with Titleist. Many other companies compete with TaylorMade such as Nike, Wilson, Callaway, Ping, and PXG, but not as close as Titleist. Golfers are usually biased and like to stick to a single brand and buy everything from that brand they are biased for. This helps TaylorMade stand out because of all the accessories it has to offer that many other companies cannot. TaylorMade has made a quality brand reputation that helps many customers come back. However, a major downside to TaylorMade is the price. TaylorMade is known for its quality and well know brand products, which have caused it to range higher in price. Its biggest competitor Titleist also ranges higher in price making it come down to the consumer of what brand to buy. TaylorMade has reached people at the professional level who represent TaylorMade.
