How does the program match your future goals? Among my previous academic studies, I chose the pathway of Early Childhood Education, which I completed last year in 2023 at Florida International University. I pursued this degree with the intent to further expand my career and knowledge, leading to the pathway of becoming a BCBA. I have worked with children in the last few years and my passion to help children with their daily rituals and behavioral interventions has expanded throughout the years. Within this experience, observing how RBT’s and BCBA’s have marked a difference in each child’s lives has also made me realize this is the most suitable career pathway for me. Surrounding myself for the past 3 years with an outstanding team to help children with their behavioral and daily life skills, has made me realize how fulfilling it is to help children with autism, ADHD, and/or OCD and see their growth over the years. My future goal is to become a BCBA and in order to specialize in this field, it is necessary to earn a master’s degree. The MS degree will not only expand my knowledge within children, in addition, it will better prepare me in the field to best establish proper interventions appropriately in order to meet each child’s needs and help them to make a difference. My end goal is to have the opportunity to best meet each child’s needs, improve their behavioral skills, enhance their daily life skills, and improve their developmental milestones. I am an overachiever, and I am motivated to learn new things, ideas, and develop new skills and apply them to new projects. I also noted students in this program will need 1,500 Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork, practicum, and capstone projects. These categories will be beneficial for me in the expansion of my knowledge and career overall and will be supportive in regard to having more skills for my upcoming career. Moreover, I identify myself as an active learner and highly committed, especially when it relates to accomplishing my goals in general and academic goals, I am dedicated to working hard to achieve them. I am also aware that all programs have its challenges, and I am ready to give it my all as I always have at FIU.
