Tobacco is a plant or leaf found in cigarettes; its use has been spreading legally all around the world leading to many consequences. About 1.6 billion people smoke cigarettes worldwide with some individuals starting at a young age (Tobacco Statistics & Facts, n.d.). The age ranges from about 10 year old young children to 70 year old adults; leading to the death of some people. Many individuals abuse this practice due to several reasons. It is either used as a way of attraction to charm people or as a trend. First of all, buying or producing tobacco is a waste of money. This idea is linked to poverty. When one buys a lot for cigarettes instead of donating some money to the poor, a great gap in the social class will emerge. Also, smoking tobacco will eventually lead to several illnesses, which one will need money for the treatment; however, some might not have a supporting income to cure themselves. According to Shah (2014), tobacco is affecting the world hunger. Huge lands are being used to grow the tobacco plant when poor people may use it to grow crops for eating and overcoming malnutrition. Also, according to the global issue article (2014), tobacco is reducing economic productivity. This will prevent the development of country and society, which will lead to other serious consequences related to the political, economic, and social growth of the area. For example, social problems such as high death rate and poverty will increase. According to the economic problem, it will result in financial crises and population decline.
