People have to show courage every day, everyone does someday whether you're 5 or 50 you will at some time show courage. Courage is shown in movies and books more than you might think. In the book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry By Mildred D. Taylor one character shows courage three times on her own. Yes, Cassie had to show courage by standing up to a teacher, a mean store owner and Lillian Jean. The first way Cassie shows courage was in the first chapter She stands up to a teacher with her little brother. Cassie and Christopher John, also known as Little man were off to their first day of the new school year. When they get to school they are informed they will get new books. When the books are handed out little man takes his book to the teacher's desk and ask for a new one, when she ask why he says his book is dirty. She then gets upset and directs his attention to the other books and how they were all dirty, he takes his book back to his seat and opens to the first page. It states the whites gave their books to the them because they were in very bad condition it says on page 27,” I don't want …show more content…

So it starts like this Stacy, T.J. and Cassie were in Strawberry at the Mercantile when T.J. gave the shop owner a list of things he needs ordered . A white woman walks in and hands him a list so he starts working on her order and not theirs,They assume she's an adult and since they are just kids she gets her order first. After that a little girl younger than Cassie walks in and ask for something they again get put on the back of the list, Cassie assumes he just forgot about us she walks behind the counter and says sir I think you forgot about us.
