The logan family is a happy family made up of seven people. They try to keep their land and lives in the harsh time period that they live in. The book takes place in a small town in Mississippi during the 1930s.
In the book “Roll of thunder hear my cry”, Mildred D. Taylor uses symbolism to provide context, and background information of the how their community is, and who the Logan’s fit in it. A great example when the author provides context and background information would be the fig tree. When the author is describing the fig tree, she describes it as “It keeps on blooming, bearing good fruit year after year, knowing all the time it’ll never get big as them other trees.” (pg 206) The author is trying to describe how the Logan family fits in in the community.

The story revolves around Cassie and she get’s into many unfortunate events. When Cassie first gets treated with racism , she can handle the situation with reason , alought her uncle Hammer treats racism with violent .Cassie is a person with integrity and courage , and she shows it when she handles racism , but Uncle Hammer doesn 't know what to say so he uses his actions to handle situations. Cassie is a very strong young woman , who doesn 't know how racism affects her and the people around her, until she gets a dose of it
In the short story, “A sound of Thunder”, Ray Bradbury used figurative language to make a bigger impact on the story. When Eckels goes into the office he sees and hears, “... A sound like a gigantic bonfire burning all of Time, all the years and all the parchment calendars- all the hours piled high and set aflame.” The author, Ray Bradbury, wanted his audience to have a specific image set in the audience’s head. By using a simile he help the reader imagine how Eckle’s is going to get to the past.
Ray Bradbury used figurative language to describe the Tyrannosaurus Rex in “A Sound of Thunder. ’’ Ray Bradbury compared the legs to pistons, this means that the Tyrannosaurus Rex has strong legs. He compared it’s eyes to ostrich eggs, this means that the dinosaur has big eyes. He also compared muscles to thick ropes, this means that the dino has big thighs.
The novel Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor is a heart wrenching story about an African American family going through very difficult times. Through many twists and turns racism, the Logan children learn what it's like in the cruel world outside their protected farmland. By sticking together as a family, Taylor shows how important a strong family relationship is. Had they not stuck together during these times they may not have made it through. In the end Mildred shows how when everyone works together, obstacles could be overcome.

As the Logan family goes through their everyday life, they constantly are targets of racism and have to rely on their family and community to help them stay get through it. Throughout the book, the symbols of vehicles, land, as well as trees play a huge role in showing the unerring depths of the Logan family’s bond.
Everyone has courage inside of them they just have to show it. Roll of thunder hear my cry introduces Cassie,a young girl who is willing to go above and beyond to fight the injustice of segregation, and to face her broadest fears. Cassie Logan has many courageous moments in this book but the three most challenging moments are standing up to Lillian Jean, Standing up for little man, and standing up for herself at the barnett store. Through Cassie´s actions she has proved she loves her family, loves the land, and knows that segregation is NOT RIGHT. She knows that equal rights is not an option in that day and age, but she will still try to make a difference in the world.
TJ is the main character in the novel ‘Role of Thunder Hear My Cry’ written by Mildred D.Taylor. TJ is a friend of Cassie the narrator we see him to Cassie the narrator's perspective. TJ is an extremely ebullient person and is full of himself. TJ is Stacy's friend, even though the other Logan children can't quite comprehend why. TJ is a tall and skinny 13-year-old and he comes from a poor family and doesn't have the best personality.

The butterfly is so important because it tells you what could possibly happen by over exaggerating a little bit, with the butterfly getting killed, so you know how severe the consequences could be. In the story the character Travis likes to over exaggerate about the butterfly effect in the text. For example, in the text it says, “Well, what about the foxes that'll need those mice to survive? For want of ten mice, a fox dies.

The majority of the people in this community are sharecroppers, who are greatly dependent on plantation farming. However, the Logan families own their own land. Cassie tries to understand with her family what racism is.

The main family in this story was treated unfairly by those who did not want them to succeed.
