Robin Hood is a character who lived in the Sherwood forest, well known for being a “hero.” One author, Roger Lancelyn Green, gives many examples as to why Robin Hood was portrayed as a hero.
There are quite a few times that the characters call him a hero. For example, at the end of the first chapter, an onlooker of Much the Miller's death describes him as an angel and thanks God for blessing them with Robin Hood, as does Sir Richard later in the series. At the end of chapter eight, Friar Tuck sang a song praising him for being bold and adventurous.
