They must be least 21 years old, willing to comply with polices and procedures, have an internet connection, and cannot be related to the student. During the exams, the proctor must be present at all times.
Within the school environment the ethos of the school should be noticed upon entering and the daily performance of the staff and pupils who attend and work for the school. All the staff that work in the environment have an important responsibly when it comes to children as children and young people are influenced by the behaviour they see from their role models, which can be teachers, family members and friends and teaching assistants such as myself. Many of their principles align with my teaching philosophy as well as my classroom management preferences. For example, on the very first day of school, my students and I will work together to develop a behavior contract that will contain the rules/norms of our classroom. We will brainstorm ideas together on an anchor chart, and then I will consolidate these responses into cohesive phrases. Once the “published” copy of the behavior contract has been presented to the students, and no changes need to be made, each student will sign the contract, indicating that they plan to abide by these rules every day, and if they make a poor choice, they accept the consequences that are to follow. The consequences for the broken rules/norms will also be discussed as a class.
I believe that all children are individuals, unique in their abilities, from a wide diversity of backgrounds and cultures, and they also have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. Educators are observers and designers who have to observe children’s abilities, interests and learning styles for designing a curriculum that fulfill everyone’s needs. Observers also play an important role on noticing individual differences and offering help to children who have lower ability to improve
In conclusion, honor code schools have students that don’t understand the honor code or are not well informed because the rules are interpreted in various ways and there is a lack of conversation about the honor code. For instance, a student at Stanford University helped another student in his class catch up after a hospital stay and found out he would not get a grade for the class for “cheating” on the classwork. One of his answers was too similar to the other students, the student claimed that the only way he knew to explain it was the same way he answered it (Greenberg). The honor code is uncompromising in dealing with its cases of cheating. Students who are only trying to help others are being punished because they explain the work the way they understand it.
The diversity of student backgrounds, abilities and learning styles makes each person unique in the way he or she reacts to information. The intersection of diverse student backgrounds and active learning needs a comfortable, positive environment in which to take root. Dr. King continues by explaining, “Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals.” From back then to today’s society, kids are failing because they lack those morals that they need to succeed.
